The Fractured Visions team is made up of passionate, experienced filmmakers and film lovers, here's a little about them!
Phillip Escott is a writer/director from Wales and the co-founder of Independent production company 441 Films and the co-writer/director of the acclaimed British horror film Cruel Summer, which premiered at FrightFest in London 2016 and the producer of Omega Rising: Remembering Joe D'Amato, a feature length documentary on the notorious Italian filmmaker, Joe D'Amato which premiered at the Sitges International Film Festival in 2017.
He's an avid fan of Cult cinema and has produced a number of documentaries for some of the world's leading independent distribution companies, including Arrow Video, Eureka Entertainment, 101 Films, Severin Films and 88 Films.
Mikel J. Koven is Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at the University of Worcester. His books include La Dolce Morte: Vernacular Cinema and the Italian Giallo Film (2006), Film, Folklore & Urban Legends (2008) and Blaxploitation Films (2010). He has also published on such topics fairy tales and film, spaghetti westerns, zombie movies, mythological films, folk horror, film festivals, and a wide variety of exploitation and horror films.
Ian is an independent filmmaker based in South Wales. His award winning short films, Isolation and No Hidden Extras, have seen him spend the last few years exploring the UK’s best (and worst!) Film Festivals. Ian is excited to bring this experience to Fractured Visions, aiming to ensure an enjoyable experience for filmmakers and genre fans alike!
Ian is a recent convert to the delights of genre film, having attended Fractured Visions monthly showings since they began in summer 2017. As a relative newcomer, he's excited to discover what filmmakers have to show him the coming year!
Daniel Portillo is a writer and filmmaker from Wales. He has written and directed a number of short films spanning multiple genres and is currently developing a number of other projects. He has also worked in TV & Film Post-production for many years.
He has been a fan of cinema, particularly cult/exploitation and horror for many years ever since being scared witless as a child by the likes of Tobe Hooper's Salem's Lot, Halloween and The Thing. He is also a lover of film scores/soundtracks amongst many other things!
Chris is the owner and editor of popular horror review website The Slaughtered Bird. In 2017 he released his first short film, Burn (which he wrote and exec produced), to high acclaim; winning Best Short Film at Shriekfest 2017 in Hollywood, amongst other awards. He was also the co-founder of Triple Six Horror Festival, which took place in May 2017, and runs BRUTAL Posters - proud creators of the official artwork for Fractured Visions Film Festival and many independent productions.
